6/1/26 Forecast (6/1 - 6/8)
Fuels:
Timely and frequent moisture continues to impact the region with significantly improved humidity. This continues to moderate the fuels conditions across the state. While long term drought still remains, even 1000 hour fuels have improved and timber areas and dead heavier fuels will struggle to carry fire. Behavior is going to be very limited to any old growth and/or cured wheat fuels on days with lower humidity. Otherwise, the landscape is not conducive to fire activity. Any behavior will be significantly reduced with easy suppression.
Statewide Preparedness Level:
Forecast:
Monday, June 1st
Drier air will push into southwest Kansas this morning with humidity as low as the mid-20% range. This northwesterly wind push will transition back to southeast winds late day and result in increasing humidity late afternoon. As a result, showers and storms will develop in the west this evening. These storms will move eastward overnight with wetting rains. Any fire weather concern will be extremely limited.
Tuesday, June 2nd
High humidity statewide with slightly warmer temperatures. Additional showers/storms are expected, especially in western Kansas. Some drying expected in eastern Kansas as high pressure builds in from the east. No fire weather concerns.
Wednesday, June 3rd
Persistent weather pattern continues with showers/storms in west/central Kansas and high humidity. Slightly drier conditions in the east but still high humidity. No fire weather concerns.
Thursday, June 4th
Axis of greatest storm activity slides slightly eastward into central/eastern Kansas with wetting moisture. Even with drier conditions in the west, recent moisture and high humidity will continue to mitigate any fire weather concerns.
Friday, June 5th
Less thunderstorm coverage than recent days with only some lingering storms in the east and more overnight into Saturday. Temperatures will remain consistent with high humidity and breezy southerly winds.
Saturday, June 5th
Storms slide off into eastern Kansas again with brief warming/drying for the west. Still, humidity will remain quite high and winds light. No fire weather concerns.
Sunday, June 7th
While a few lingering showers are expected in the east, additional storm development is expected in western Kansas into the evening as the active, tropical weather pattern continues. No fire weather concerns are expected.
Monday, June 8th
While most of the day will be rain free, some storms will push south into the state overnight. Temperatures will be slightly warmer with continued high humidity.
